Now that Mardi Gras is over, you might think that the Crescent City is laying low and nursing a citywide hangover. But this city never stops! Read on to find out about the fun things you can do in New Orleans this March!
Sun Belt Conference Basketball Tournament—March 7-11
Catch some of the best college basketball in the world at Lakefront Arena! Whether you’re a local fan of the Ragin’ Cajuns (top of the conference as I write this!) or coming in from out of town to see your own team, the teams are at their best this time of year.
New Orleans Bourbon Festival—March 8-10
I must confess: this past year I’ve been turned on to bourbon by a great friend of mine. My husband had always enjoyed bourbon but I turned my nose up at it. But now I love it! And this is just the place to enjoy and celebrate the uniquely American spirit. Come to taste fine bourbons, eat good food, and learn about the distilleries where these spirits are made. I might want to check out their ‘Women in Bourbon’ series!
Hogs For the Cause—March 23-24
Now this is a fun festival! Tons of tasty bbq, drinks, even some crawfish, and on top of that live music. Hogs for the Cause really checks the boxes for what makes a great New Orleans festival. Try as many foods as you can so you can vote for your favorite. And of course, the fest benefits the New Orleans Children’s hospital and many others so you’re helping others with your meat eating! I went a couple of years ago with my husband and even though city park got flooded and muddy, we had a great time.
