As the fall rolls on we finally get some relief from the beating sun and the scorching heat. And we look forward to the coming holiday season, telling ourselves that this year, THIS year, we won’t overdo it, but we know we’re lying to ourselves and we’ll soon accept that we just love the holidays too much to do them anything less than 100%.  For now, it’s November in New Orleans and these are the things we’re looking forward to!

So You Think You Can Dance Season 14 Tour – November 5

I’ve enjoyed every season of this show, and once I met my husband I turned him into a fan too.  See the stars of SYTYCD on stage at The Saenger Theatre as they recreate some of their best pieces from the show.  If you’re unfamiliar with the show, it is one of the only shows on TV that is actually a showcase of art, I highly recommend it.  Purchase your tickets online at The Saenger Theatre.

Jay-Z 4:44 Tour – November 9

Arguably the most famous rapper in the world, Jay comes to NOLA for one night only.  Whether you’ve been listening to his music for over a decade or you’ve never heard him before, he puts on an incredible show and it’s right here in our beloved city.  Purchase your tickets here at The Smoothie King Center.

Treme Creole Gumbo Festival – November 18-19

Now here’s a New Orleans event.  Treme? Check. Creole? Check. Gumbo? Check.  What’s not to love?!  This year’s festival is the ninth annual hosted by the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation.  Come to Louis Armstrong Park for FREE admission to hear some of our best New Orleans music, taste our food, and soak in the ambiance that makes New Orleans so unique.  Check it out!

Turkey Day Race – November 24

Before you put on your favorite stretchy pants, fight over the wishbone, and settle in for a turkey coma, EARN your Thanksgiving dinner by running in the 109th annual Turkey Day Race.  Whether you’re a seasoned runner or the only time you run is to catch the streetcar, you’re sure to have a great time running through City Park.  The race benefits Spina Bifida of Greater New Orleans so even if you finish the race feeling worse for wear you’re helping a good cause.  Here’s more info on the race.

Excited to do any of these fun activities this month?  Let us know in the comments below!
